Peter
I have a 94 acre property at Kudardup, near Augusta. I’ve had it for 14 years. The attractions for me included good rainfall, close to the coast, two houses and its value as an investment. My long-term objectives for the property are life style and environmental.
Progress towards achieving these objectives has been slow, mainly due to work and other commitments in Bunbury where we live. Nevertheless I’ve always considered the farm would be there and have been conscious of making headway. I have put in a dam and fenced off the creek.
In 2014 I participated in a Master TreeGrower course run in Margaret River. That gave me several useful contacts and renewed my motivation. So when Gary asked whether I’d be interested in participating in Peer Group Mentoring Project, I put up my hand.
Gary, Cath and Dave came for the initial site visit. We walked around and talked about my thoughts and concepts for the property. We tossed around a range of ideas, which Gary subsequently set out in a report. Since then Gary and I have kept in touch and had the occasional informal chat.
The main thing that has come out of it for me has been the contacts; not so much new ideas. It’s really up to me now. I’m not quite ready to launch into it yet, but when I am, I’ll know who to talk to and how to go about it.
